Marcela Lombana

Hi, I am Marcela. For me, carrying out therapy is an art that requires mastery. I am conscious that when someone comes to therapy, they are opening their Self, allowing me to have an insight into their personal and private life. This bears in itself an enormous responsibility and complexity. Therefore, I am committed to improve my professional practice every day.

As a psychologist, that has been working with young and adults in individual and couple therapy, in private practice for over 16 years in both Spanish and English, have allowed me to develop valuable tools to effectively support my patients/clients.

I work from an integrative perspective. My therapeutic approach is rooted in Systemic Therapy, with a strong emphasis on Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. When there is the possibility, I also integrate elements of Buddhist psychology and mindfulness techniques.

My professional and personal experience has allowed me to immerse myself into diverse cultures, within different places and continents. This has provided me with the unique opportunity to experience first-hand the different challenges expats and immigrants undergo.

I have also been able to gain a profound understanding of the multiple realities that foreign couples / expats, be-cultural couples, immigrants and intercultural families go through. In fact, I am married to a Dutch man and we have a Colombian-Dutch family, in which I am the mother of two children.
